The Society sponsors a full schedule of readings, lectures, and concerts throughout the academic year that are open to members and guests. The expanded lecture program features visiting Irish writers and scholars and other honored guests from Ireland and other countries.
Speakers have included Irish political leaders such as John Hume and Gerry Adams, novelists Edna O'Brien and Mary Higgins Clark, historian Tim Pat Coogan, political analyst Conor Cruise O'Brien, poets Seamus Heaney and Michael Longley, and movie director Martin Scorsese.
Often the great central drawing room is filled with music, whether harp, piano, or penny whistle and bodhrán. Among the many musical highlights is a monthly series of concerts presented by master students of the Julliard School of Music.
